What this property does not cover
On this page14
Not what the Act prohibits
The definition is quoted and the prohibition is not. What may not be introduced into commerce or used, and by whom, is outside these pages.
Not where it applies
Which installations and which uses are reached is part of the scheme and is not described.
Not the exemptions
There are circumstances in which the requirement does not apply and none of them is set out here.
Not the certification
How compliance is demonstrated, and by what third party, is not described. NSF and similar certifications are not federal.
Not the effective dates
The figures in the definition have a history and this property quotes the current text without describing it.
Not any computation
A weighted average over wetted surfaces is computed for a particular assembly and no computation is performed here for anything.
Not which surfaces are wetted
Which depends on how an article is installed. The descriptions in this property are the ordinary function of each article, not a determination.
And not whether any article is lead free
That is a measurement about a specific product, and nothing on these pages establishes it.
Nor whether any container is suitable for potable water
Which it is not being asked to be. These are storage jars for small parts, not plumbing components.
What is here is the definition and three findings in it
That lead free is not zero, that the two figures differ with the tighter one on solder, and that the fitting figure is an area-weighted average.
Plus which of the ten articles is a wetted surface
Which divides the group on a question about water contact rather than about size or material.
And a container shelf, measured on its own axis
Which for a plumbing part is storage temperature and moisture rather than anything to do with lead.
Three things, and two of them come from two sentences
Which is a high yield for a definition that short.
