Policy and terms
Last updated October 4, 2026.
Davis Packaging and Containers is a registered assumed business name of Dwight Davis Consulting LLC, an Idaho limited liability company, filed with the Idaho Secretary of State on October 4, 2026 under file number 7034254. The LLC is the party you are contracting with. These terms govern orders placed on daviscontainers.com. Placing an order means you accept them.
Suitability is yours to determine
We assume no responsibility for whether a container or closure suits your particular use. Dimensions, capacities, neck finishes, materials and temperature ratings are the manufacturer's published values. We hold and organize them, we do not test them.
Whether a container works for your formulation, at your fill temperature, over your shelf life, is a question about your product and not about the container. Test it. Request samples before you commit to a quantity.
Compatibility matters more than people expect. Essential oils attack some plastics. Hot fill deforms others. A closure that threads onto a neck is not the same as a closure that seals on it. Where we publish a closure as fitting a container, we mean the thread finish matches, and we have verified that against the specification. It is not a warranty that the pair seals under your conditions.
Compliance is yours
You are responsible for complying with state and federal law covering what you sell and how you package it. Food contact, cottage food rules, labeling, weights and measures, child-resistant packaging and tamper evidence all vary by state and change without notice.
Anything we publish about regulation is a starting point for a conversation with your state authority, not a determination that you comply.
Cleanliness
Containers are not manufactured or stored in a sterile facility and are not supplied sterile, sanitized or washed. If your process needs them clean, you clean them. All items are sold as is.
Warranties
We expressly disclaim implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Products carry whatever warranty their manufacturer offers and no more.
Limitation of liability
Our liability for any claim arising from an order is limited to the amount you paid for the goods in question. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, which includes loss or spoilage of your product, lost profit, business interruption, recall costs or regulatory penalties.
This is not us being difficult. A case of jars costs a few dollars and the product someone puts in them can be worth thousands, and no packaging supplier anywhere prices in that risk. It is why testing before you commit matters.
Prices
Prices are in US dollars and are confirmed at the moment you order. Stock and pricing are checked against our supplier when you reach checkout, so what you pay is what is true then rather than what was true when the page was built.
Case pricing applies automatically once your quantity reaches a full case. You do not have to ask for it and there is no code to enter.
We reserve the right to correct an obvious pricing error. If one affects an order you have placed, we will tell you and cancel it for a full refund rather than quietly ship at the wrong price or quietly charge you more.
Payment
We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover, processed by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe's own page and never reach us.
We do not accept cash on delivery, checks or money orders, and we do not offer credit terms.
Payment is taken when you order, not when the goods ship.
Sales tax
Dwight Davis Consulting LLC is an Idaho business, so we collect Idaho sales tax on orders delivered in Idaho. We do not collect sales tax in other states, because we are not registered there. If your state requires you to self-assess use tax on an untaxed purchase, that is between you and your state.
If you are buying for resale, or buying containers that your own product is sold in, you may be exempt. Open an account and submit your certificate there, with the issuing state and the permit number.
We check the permit against the issuing state's own register before approving it. Once approved, your orders delivered to that state are not charged sales tax from that point on. The exemption applies to future orders and is not applied retrospectively to orders already placed.
An exemption covers only the state that issued it, and lapses when the certificate expires. We do not zero the tax on an unverified number: an exemption that turns out to be invalid leaves the liability with us, and that is not a risk we can take on a number typed into a form.
How orders are filled
Orders ship from the warehouse closest to you that has the stock.
This is why our returns and cancellation terms look the way they do. We cannot accept a return the warehouse will not take back. We would rather publish the real constraint than promise something we have no way to honor.
Samples
Up to 10 items per sample request.
Shipping on a sample order is paid by you. We will confirm what we can send, and what it costs, before anything ships.
Returns
You have 30 days from delivery to tell us you want to return something. It has to go back in full, unopened cases, in resalable condition, and there is a 20 percent restocking fee. Return freight is yours.
Full cases only, and this one catches people. We sell by the unit. The warehouse accepts returns only in full, unopened cases. If you order 5 of something that comes 24 to a case, those 5 cannot be returned at all. Not at a fee, not at a loss. Buy part cases when a part case is what you need, and buy full cases if you might want to send some back.
Tell us within 30 days by emailing info@daviscontainers.com with your order reference. If we approve it we issue a return authorization, and the goods have to be shipped back within 14 days of that authorization. After 14 days it lapses and the warehouse refuses the delivery.
Returned goods must be unused, in original unopened cases, fit for resale. A case opened to take out a few units is not resalable.
The 20 percent restocking fee is our supplier's and we pass it through at cost. We add nothing to it.
Return freight is yours to pay and arrange. Glass is the exception and it is not negotiable: glass must come back as a pallet shipment, and glass returned by UPS or FedEx is refused on arrival, at which point the goods and the freight are both lost. Ask us first and we will tell you what the pallet arrangement needs to be.
Clearance items cannot be returned. Special order and non-stock items, meaning anything brought in for you rather than taken off a shelf, cannot be returned. Nor can anything used, filled, labeled or decanted.
Cancellations
Before the order is picked, cancellation is free. Tell us as soon as you can.
Once it has shipped it is not a cancellation, it is a return, and the 20 percent restocking fee and return freight both apply.
Because we check stock and place the order when you pay, that window is shorter than you might expect. Usually hours rather than days.
Damage in transit
Packages leave the warehouse meeting the carrier's requirements. Damage after that is a carrier matter and the claim goes to the carrier.
Tell us anyway, the same day if you can, and keep the packaging and the goods exactly as they arrived. Photographs taken before anything is moved are what decide these claims. We will help you file. We cannot refund freight damage ourselves and neither can our supplier.
Shortages and wrong items
A different thing, and our problem rather than yours. If a case is short, or you were sent the wrong item, tell us within 5 business days of delivery. We correct it at our cost, including freight, with no restocking fee.
Refunds
Once the warehouse receives and inspects a return, we refund the goods value less the restocking fee to the card you paid with. Original outbound freight is not refunded, because it was already spent getting the goods to you. Sales tax on refunded goods is refunded with them.
Allow a few days after the warehouse receives the return, then whatever your bank takes, which is usually 5 to 10 days.
What we publish
The written guidance on this site is editorial. It is written from research, published standards and practical experience, and it is not professional advice. It is not a substitute for a food process authority, a state inspector, an extension service, a lawyer or an accountant.
Where a decision carries real consequence we say so on the page. Where we have not pinned a source we mark it rather than letting it read as settled. If something is wrong, tell us, and we correct the record rather than quietly editing it.
Copyright
The content of this site, including the product descriptions, specifications as organized and presented here, written guidance, photography as published, and the code behind it, is ours and is protected by copyright. You may not reproduce or republish it without permission. Reading it, quoting it with attribution, and using it to decide what to buy are all fine.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, and the courts of Ada County, Idaho have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
