Containers

What a complete unit costs

On this page11
Median 108 cents. And the lid is a median 15 percent of it.

A container on its own is not a usable thing

A jar without a lid holds nothing. So the price that answers a buyer’s question is the pair, and this shelf prices the two components separately.

Single-unit prices sit in a narrow band on both sides

250 containers run 21 to 705 cents with a median of 90.5. 286 closures run 5 to 445 cents with a median of 39.

Pairing each container with its cheapest matching closure gives the complete unit

42 to 803 cents, with a median of 108. Which is the figure to compare against, and it is about 20 percent above the container median on its own.

The closure is a smaller share of that than its own median suggests

Across 215 pairable containers the closure accounts for between 2.8 and 48.1 percent of the complete unit, with a median of 15.4 percent.

And it never exceeds half

Ten of 215 pairs put the closure at 30 percent or more and three at 40 or more. Nothing on this shelf is a cheap jar with an expensive lid, which is a real possibility on other kinds of shelf and is worth having checked.

The low end of the complete unit range is the interesting number

Forty two cents buys a container and a closure that fits it. Which is a small enough figure that the case pack, not the price, is what governs the size of an order here.

Ninety three of the 251 containers are quote only

So a little over a third of the shelf does not carry a published price at all in the ordinary way, and the figures above describe the rows that do.

Every figure here is a snapshot of one day

Nineteen October 2026. A price is not a durable property of a container and the pages say which day they were taken rather than implying they still hold.

And a matching closure is a catalog match, not a tested fit

Two rows sharing a nominal neck finish are recorded as compatible. That is a statement about the record. No page here claims that any specific closure has been fitted to any specific container.

Which is the same restraint the spine demands of its own subject

Part 770 does not let anybody conclude a panel is compliant from looking at it; it requires the record. These pages do not let a shared neck finish become a tested fit either.

The Davis Pack Supply catalog, measured 19 October 2026, and a snapshot of that day rather than a current price. Single-unit prices: 250 containers from 21 to 705 cents with a median of 90.5; 286 closures from 5 to 445 cents with a median of 39. The recorded case price is a per-unit price rather than a case total. The ratio of case-unit price to single price runs 0.667 to 0.887 for containers with a median of 0.720, and 0.625 to 0.929 for closures with a median of 0.722, so a median discount of 28 percent in a band of roughly 11 to 37. Not one row of 536 has a case-unit price at or above its single price; 7 of 250 containers and 45 of 286 closures beat a 30 percent discount, and nothing on the shelf reaches 40. Case-unit prices run 14 to 507 cents for containers, median 66, and 4 to 320 for closures, median 29.
The Davis Pack Supply catalog, measured 19 October 2026. 215 of the 251 containers on this shelf share a nominal neck finish with at least one closure on the same shelf, which is a catalog match and not a test of fit. 36 do not, and 19 of those record no neck finish at all, so 17 containers carry a recorded finish for which no closure here is listed. The number of matching closures per container runs from 1 to 66 with a median of 61. Taking each container with its cheapest matching closure at single-unit prices, a complete unit runs 42 to 803 cents with a median of 108, and the closure accounts for 2.8 to 48.1 percent of that with a median of 15.4 percent: 10 of 215 at 30 percent or more, 3 at 40 or more, and none above half. 93 of the 251 containers are quote only.
Written from 40 CFR part 770 and from the catalog as it stood on 19 October 2026. Part 770 sets formaldehyde emission standards for composite wood products under TSCA Title VI; it does not govern cam locks, glides, hinges, hangers or shelf pins, and nothing here says it does. No container on this shelf is described as low emitting or certified under anything. Prices are a snapshot of one day, and a closure counted as matching a container shares its nominal neck finish in the catalog, which is a record and not a test. This shelf is shared identically by nine groups and the sewing notions property enumerates the inventory.
