Nine fields, and not the one that matters here.
What we publish
Material, capacity, neck finish, height, width, liner, temperature range, case pack and color. On most rows, most of those are filled.
What we do not publish
Whether a container is refillable or nonrefillable. There is no field for it, so there is no value to be absent.
Which is the attribute the section turns on
Not the material, not the capacity, not the closure. The container type, and nothing else in 156.140 depends on anything we do record.
So our pages cannot tell you which sentence to print
A buyer can establish material and capacity from a product page and cannot establish the one thing the label text follows from.
That is a data gap, not a shelf gap
Some of these containers are presumably designated one way or the other by their manufacturer. We do not carry the designation.
The same shape appears twice more in this library
The hazmat property cannot say whether a container carries a UN specification mark. The edibles property cannot say what a jar holds by mass. Both are fields rather than stock.
And the fix is the same in each case
A field, populated from manufacturer documentation, per product. Stated here so the position is known rather than inferred.
Meanwhile the designation is a question for the supplier
Which is a reasonable question with a definite answer, and it has to be asked before artwork rather than after.
There is a practical heuristic and it is not a substitute
A small single-use consumer bottle is usually nonrefillable and a large industrial vessel usually refillable. Our shelf tops out at 120 mL, which points one way and does not settle it.
And the closure does not settle it either
A container with a removable threaded closure is physically refillable and that is not the question. The designation is a manufacturer's statement about the container, not an observation about its lid.
Do not infer it from the capacity
Because the designation is the manufacturer's and the consequence is a required sentence. Guessing produces the wrong label rather than an approximate one.

The Davis Pack Supply catalog, measured 19 October 2026. We publish material, capacity, neck finish, height, width, liner, temperature range, case pack and color. We publish no field recording whether a container is refillable or nonrefillable, which is the single attribute 40 CFR 156.140 turns on.
40 CFR 156.140, "Identification of container types". For a nonrefillable container the label must bear the statement "Nonrefillable container.", a reuse statement chosen from options in the section of which the household wording is "Do not reuse or refill this container.", and a recycling or reconditioning statement, the options including "Offer for recycling if available." and "Offer for reconditioning if appropriate." The section also requires a lot number or other code used by the registrant or producer to identify the batch of the pesticide product which is distributed and sold. For a refillable container the required statement is "Refillable Container. Refill this container with pesticide only. Do not reuse this container for any other purpose.", or the same sentence naming a common chemical name in place of the word pesticide. The full set of permitted option wordings is in the section and is not enumerated here.
