Getting started

The small end is sixteen containers

On this page14
16 under 30 mL. 7 under 15. 3 under 10.

What a collectible container has to be

Small, because the objects are small, and ideally visible, because a collection is looked at rather than used.

And this shelf is mostly not small

245 containers from 5.5 to 500 mL with a median of 177, and 47 of them at 237 mL alone.

The small end is 16 containers

Under 30 mL. Which is 7 percent of the shelf, and the 7 under 15 mL are 3 percent.

The smallest is not a collectible container at all

A 5.5 mL white polypropylene lip balm tube, 2.375 inches tall and 0.617 inches across. The narrowest container on any shelf measured here, and it is a lip balm tube.

The next two are the interesting ones

A pair of polypropylene hinged containers at 7.4 mL, half an inch tall and 1.5 inches across, in black and clear.

Half an inch tall is a specimen box

Which is exactly the article a pin badge, a vintage button or a game token wants, and there are two of them.

Then four double wall jars at 14.8 mL

In frosted, black and white polypropylene, about 1.27 inches tall and just under 2 inches across. A shallow wide jar.

And four glass boston rounds at 15 mL

In amber, clear and blue, around 2.5 inches tall and about 1.1 inches across. Tall and narrow, which is the opposite proportion.

So the small end divides by shape as well as size

Shallow and wide for something laid flat, tall and narrow for something dropped in. A badge wants the first and a bottle cap the second.

Then the shelf climbs away

22.2 and 29.6 mL, and after that 59, 89, 118 and up. The gap between 30 and 59 mL is where a collection container would sit and there is nothing in it.

Diameter is the field to read

Published on 218 of the 245 containers, from 0.62 to 4.62 inches. For an object of a known size that is the number that decides.

And 27 containers have no diameter recorded

For those the fit cannot be checked from our data, which is a reason to ask rather than to assume.

Two hinged containers is a thin offering

For nine leaves of small flat objects, and it is the honest count.

The Davis Pack Supply catalog, measured 19 October 2026. Of the 245 containers in this group, capacity runs 5.5 to 500 mL with a median of 177, and only 16 are under 30 mL, 7 under 15 and 3 under 10. The smallest is a 5.5 mL white polypropylene lip balm tube, 2.375 inches tall and 0.617 inches across, which is the narrowest container on any shelf measured in this library. The next two are a pair of polypropylene hinged containers at 7.4 mL, 0.5 inches tall and 1.5 inches across, in black and clear. Then four polypropylene double wall round base jars at 14.8 mL and four glass boston rounds at 15 mL. The shelf then climbs away, with 47 containers at 237 mL and 44 at 118.
The Davis Pack Supply catalog, measured 19 October 2026. 533 rows: 245 containers and 288 closures. 5.5 to 500 mL with a median of 177. Height is published on most containers from 0.5 to 6.75 inches and diameter on 218 from 0.62 to 4.62 inches. 117 PET, 78 PP and 50 glass. Closures: 179 continuous thread polypropylene lids, 42 metal or aluminum CT caps, 22 dome lids, 17 metal lug or twist caps, 9 sealing discs, 6 round tub lids, 5 phenolic, 2 metal overshell lids, 2 lip balm tube caps, 1 plug seal lid. Buyability, a snapshot: 153 of 245 available, 91 not, 1 unrecorded; 59 full case only, with case packs from 12 to 6,370 and a median of 282.
Written from 16 CFR 1500.19(b) and from the catalog as it stood on 19 October 2026. Those statements attach to toys and other articles intended for use by children, and nothing here determines whether any product is one; the same marble sold to an adult collector sits in a different regime. The prominence, type size and symbol requirements elsewhere in the section are described rather than quoted, and the small parts test method is covered in the model parts property. No container prevents a choking hazard.
