Why fourteen rows state a reason
On this page11
The closure fit table has a column for the basis of each assertion
It holds 55,902 rows and 55,888 of them leave that column empty. Fourteen record something, and the fishing property set that out and left one question open.
The question was why those fourteen
A basis column used on fourteen rows out of fifty five thousand nine hundred and two looks arbitrary until the fourteen are examined.
All fourteen say the same kind of thing
Twelve read that the supplier states the same neck notation on both, at 43MM. Two read the same at 40MM.
Ten product references appear across those fourteen rows
Four clear PET foamer bottles and two white PP foamer pumps at 43MM, plus a natural PP spice sifter disc at 43MM. And a clear and a white PET foamer bottle with a white PP foamer pump at 40MM.
Every one of the ten carries a millimeter neck notation
Not one uses the dash form. Which is the answer: the basis column is populated exactly where the millimeter notation appears.
And the millimeter notation is exactly where an automatic match fails
This shelf demonstrates it. Ten millimeter closures here, five of their six sizes present in the dash form on the container side, and no recorded fit for any of them.
So the fourteen rows are the cases somebody repaired by hand
Where the notation was the millimeter form, a person looked at it, saw both sides using the same string, recorded the pair and wrote down why.
Which turns a puzzling statistic into a useful one
Fourteen out of 55,902 reads as a column nobody uses. Fourteen rows covering precisely the notation the automatic method cannot handle reads as a column used where it was needed.
And it identifies the remaining work precisely
The millimeter rows on other shelves have not had the same treatment. This shelf has ten of them unmatched, nine being sealing discs whose nominal size is present on the container side.
Nothing here fixes that and nothing here asserts the pairs
The finding is recorded because it is measurable and because it explains both the fourteen rows and the fifteen orphans. Asserting a fit would be inventing a record.
