Containers

Two hundred thirty two closures

On this page11
A ratio of 2.64 to one. The highest on any shelf here.

This shelf has more than two and a half closures for every container

Eighty eight containers and 232 closures. Which is the highest ratio on any shelf described across this library, where the two sides are usually close to even.

The reason is that the container list is narrow and the closure list is not

Eighty eight containers across ten families, led by PET Single Wall Jar at 41 and Double Wall Round Base Jar at 16. The closures also run to ten families but with 162 in the largest, so the closure side is deeper within each shape.

And the material choice lives on the closure side

The containers record three materials: 45 PET, 40 polypropylene and three glass. The closures record eight: 185 polypropylene, 30 metal, 5 urea, 4 PET, 3 plastic and metal, 2 plastic, 2 HDPE and one metal and polypropylene.

Which inverts how a shelf is usually read

On most shelves the container carries the material decision and the lid follows. Here a buyer choosing a material is choosing a lid, and the jar is one of three options.

Thirty metal closures on an eighty eight container shelf is the striking figure

Metal appears nowhere in the container list, where the only non-plastic rows are three glass jars. So all of the metal on this shelf is in the closures.

Urea is the row that will be unfamiliar

Five of them. A thermoset plastic used for caps where a harder and more heat resistant material than polypropylene is wanted. The kind of row that only appears once a closure list is deep.

The fit table covers 81 of the 88 containers

3,351 pairs where both sides are on this shelf. Seven containers have no recorded fit here at all.

And the distribution is the same spiked shape seen elsewhere

30 containers at 36 fitting closures, 25 at 62, 11 at 17, 7 at 26, 5 at 67, 2 at 8 and one at exactly 1. Seven values cover all 81.

Which is why this page quotes the distribution and not a median

With 30 containers at one value and 25 at another, the midpoint lands between two spikes and moves with the population. The fishing property sets out why that matters on a larger shelf.

Fifteen closures fit nothing on this shelf

Which on a shelf with 232 closures and 88 containers deserves an explanation rather than a note, and the explanation is the next page.

The Davis Pack Supply catalog, measured 19 October 2026. This group draws on 88 containers and 232 closures, a ratio of 2.64 closures to each container, which is the highest on any shelf in this library. The containers record three materials: 45 PET, 40 polypropylene and 3 glass. The closures record eight: 185 polypropylene, 30 metal, 5 urea, 4 PET, 3 plastic and metal, 2 plastic, 2 HDPE and one metal and polypropylene. Closure families run to ten, led by 162 continuous thread polypropylene lids, then 32 metal or aluminum CT caps, 21 PP dome lids and 9 sealing discs.
The Davis Pack Supply catalog, measured 19 October 2026. 88 containers running 5.545 to 354.882 mL with a median of 88.721: 12 at or under 30 mL, 37 at or under 60, 48 at or under 118 and 85 at or under 177. 85 jars, 2 tubes and one bottle. Ten container families, led by PET Single Wall Jar at 41 and Double Wall Round Base Jar at 16. Nine colors, led by 25 white and 21 clear, then 15 black, 9 amber and 8 natural. Height 0.50 to 5.33 inches with a median of 1.79, recorded for 84 of 88; diameter 0.62 to 3.70 inches with a median of 2.34, recorded for 82. Case packs run 84 to 2,500. Availability, a snapshot and not a promise: 53 of 88 marked available, 34 not, one unrecorded. The fit table records 3,351 on-shelf pairs covering 81 of the 88 containers, and the counts arrive in spikes: 30 containers at 36 fits, 25 at 62, 11 at 17, 7 at 26, 5 at 67, 2 at 8 and one at 1. These are outside dimensions.
Written from 16 CFR part 1501 and from the catalog as it stood on 19 October 2026. That part provides the test method for identifying toys and other articles intended for use by children under three that present a choking, aspiration or ingestion hazard because of small parts; it does not govern contact lens cases, cufflink boxes, earplug carriers, hair ties or travel kits, and it does not reach any container on this shelf. Nothing here determines whether any article is intended for use by children under three, performs or reports any test, or offers guidance about child safety. A closure recorded as fitting a container shares a neck notation in the supplier record, which is not a test of fit.
