The jar craft

Why these are jars
A hair mask, a pomade, a styling cream and a curl cream are thick enough that the user takes them with their fingers. The container has to open wide and let a hand in.
What is here
260 jars: 131 PET single wall, 27 PP single wall, 22 double wall round base, 19 glass straight sided and 15 double wall straight base, with 27 dome lids, 12 lug and twist and 9 round tubs to close them.
Pomade is filled warm
Which the archetype gets right with its warm fill. A wax base poured hot and left to set needs a container that tolerates the fill temperature and does not deform as it cools.
And it sets to the shape of the jar
A straight sided jar releases a set product and a jar with an inward shoulder traps it. For a pomade the straight sided glass jar is the right object and there are 19 of them.
Masks are used wet and with slippery hands
A wide dome lid that comes off with a quarter turn beats a small cap somebody has to grip. The closure is the usability of the product.
PP for a product that may be filled hot
27 PP single wall jars and 73 PP containers in total. Polypropylene tolerates heat better than PET, which matters for a wax or a butter.
Double wall is a cosmetic decision
37 of them across two families. A jar inside a jar reads as premium and loses volume to the gap, and it gives you an outer wall to label.
Headspace matters for an emulsion
A mask that separates looks broken even when it is not. Filling close to the top and choosing a liner that seals reduces the air the emulsion has to fight.
A jar is a contamination route
Fingers go in every time, which is a preservation question rather than a packaging one and it is why these products need real preservative systems.
And the archetype said none of this
Narrow mouth, pump or disc top, for one handed use. Four of the eleven leaves are a jar craft and the archetype describes none of them, which is worth saying plainly.
