Eleven leaves, three formats

On this page11
260 of the 628 containers here are jars, on an archetype that says narrow mouth and pump.

The bottle craft

Shampoo, conditioner, leave-in and dry shampoo in liquid form. Poured or pumped, used wet, in the shower or at a basin, and bought in quantity.

The jar craft

Hair mask, pomade, styling cream and curl cream. Thick, scooped, and taken with the fingers. A pump cannot move a pomade and a narrow neck cannot release a mask.

The dropper craft

Hair serum, hair oil and most scalp treatments. Small, applied by drops to the scalp or through the ends, and the one place amber glass belongs.

All three sit on pc-lotion

50 to 500 mL, narrow mouth, pump or disc or flip, PET and HDPE, warm fill, emulsion. "Pourable to medium lotion. Pump or disc top for one handed use."

Which describes one of the three

The bottle craft exactly, the dropper craft not at all, and the jar craft in the opposite direction. The archetype is right about a conditioner and wrong about a pomade in every particular.

And that shows in the shelf

260 jars arrived anyway, which is the pipeline doing better than its own rule. The jars are a real answer and they are not what the archetype asked for.

Pomade is the hardest of the eleven

A wax or oil base, filled warm, set solid, and dug out with a thumbnail. Wide mouth, straight wall, and a lid somebody can open with greasy hands.

Dry shampoo splits in two

A powder in a shaker, which this shelf can serve, and an aerosol, which it cannot. There are no pressurized containers here at all.

Hair oil is the easiest

A single phase oil, no preservative question, stable, and well served by the 64 glass Boston rounds and the 43 dropper assemblies.

Which is the useful map

Three formats, three closure families, one archetype. Read the containers section as three shelves rather than one and the numbers start making sense.

The archetype behind this shelf is pc-lotion: 50 to 500 mL, narrow mouth, lotion pump or disc top or flip top, PET and HDPE, warm fill, medium viscosity, an emulsion, with "pourable to medium lotion, pump or disc top for one handed use" as its stated reason. All eleven leaves sit on it, including the jar crafts and the two that are not emulsions at all.

Written from 21 CFR part 358 subpart H, 21 CFR 201.66 and the catalog as it stood on 18 October 2026. Whether a particular product is a cosmetic or a drug turns on its intended use, which is established by what you say about it; no page here can make that determination for you. Cosmetic labeling, facility registration and product listing are covered in the grooming property and not repeated.
