Aftershave, and why it is glass
On this page8
What it is
A high alcohol liquid, scented, applied to skin that has just been shaved. Thin, fast evaporating, and aggressive toward materials that the rest of this craft can use without a thought.
Why not plastic
The archetype states the reason plainly: high alcohol attacks plastics and adhesives. That is a materials constraint rather than a style preference, and it is why the shelf for this product is 81 containers and every single one of them is glass.
Adhesives are the half people forget
The bottle may be glass and the label still fails, because the alcohol that runs down the outside gets under the edge of a label whose adhesive was chosen for a dry product. The label stock is part of the packaging decision here.
The shelf behind it
81 glass containers from 7 to 120 mL: 48 Boston rounds, 15 straight sided jars, 5 low profile jars, 4 hex jars and 4 packers. Clear at 28, amber at 16, blue at 15, frosted at 11.
Splash or spray
A splash top is traditional and gives no control. A fine mist sprayer gives an even application and far less waste; the shelf carries 18 of them, most on 24-410 and 20-410 necks. The decision is about the ritual as much as the dose.
Or a roller ball
The archetype names "sprayer or roll on" and both are here. Five glass roller ball bottles sit on this shelf at 8, 10 and 30 mL. A roll on doses without overspray and cannot leak in a bag.
Check the mucous membrane question
A product applied to a just-shaved face is worth reading carefully against MoCRA’s small business exemption, which does not extend to products that contact mucous membranes. This is the product in the range most likely to raise that question.
