The panel

What this property does not cover

On this page13
101.36 is long. This property quotes two parts of it.

Not what the panel must contain

Which nutrients and ingredients are declared, in what order, with what units and what daily values. That is the bulk of the section and none of it is here.

Not the format of the panel

Column rules, bar weights, indentation and the standard and simplified formats. Only the hairline allowance is quoted.

Not claims

Structure and function claims, the disclaimer that accompanies them, and health claims are separate schemes with their own rules.

Not whether an ingredient may be used

The new dietary ingredient question and the October 1994 line live in the adjacent botanicals property, and the determination is per ingredient.

Not manufacturing

Current good manufacturing practice for dietary supplements is its own part and bears on the container only indirectly.

And not state law

Which adds requirements in some states and which a national catalog cannot speak to.

What is here is the area arithmetic

Two thresholds, a computable lower bound from our published dimensions, and an honest statement of where the uncertainty sits.

Plus the servings per container consequence

Which makes the container size a declared number rather than an internal one, and ties the choice of jar to a figure on the label.

And the liner question, which the regulation says nothing about

A gummy fuses in a jar that takes up moisture, and no labeling rule addresses it. 81 of the 255 closures here carry a heat induction seal and 49 have no liner or no record of one.

Which is the recurring shape of these properties

The regulation decides the label and the catalog decides whether the product survives. Two separate questions and only one of them has a citation.

That is enough to choose a container with

Area band, fill, servings per container, and the closure and liner questions on the containers pages.

The rest belongs with a labeling professional

A panel is a document and this is a container catalog. The division is deliberate.

References

21 CFR 101.36(b)(2): "The subheading 'Serving Size' shall be placed under the heading 'Supplement Facts'" and "The subheading 'Servings Per Container' shall be placed under the subheading 'Serving Size'". The serving size itself is determined by reference to 21 CFR 101.9(b) and the reference amounts in 21 CFR 101.12(b), Table 2, rather than by the maker's recommendation. law.cornell.edu
21 CFR 101.36(i), on the Supplement Facts label: "All information within the nutrition label on small-sized packages, which have a total surface area available to labeling of less than 12 square inches, shall be in type size no smaller than 4.5 point", and "packages, which have from 12 to 40 square inches of surface area available to bear labeling, shall be in type size no smaller than 6 point". The same paragraph provides that where space is constrained "the hairlines may be omitted and replaced by a row of dots connecting the columns". law.cornell.edu
Written from 21 CFR 101.36 and from the catalog as it stood on 19 October 2026. The surface area figures here are computed from published height and diameter and are the cylindrical side wall only, which is a lower bound: the regulation measures the total surface area available to bear labeling, and that is more. Nothing on these pages sets out what a Supplement Facts panel must contain, which ingredients may be used, or what claims are permitted. A dietary supplement's serving size is determined by reference to the amounts in 21 CFR 101.12(b) rather than by the maker.
