Thirty eight rows share their text
On this page11
Every row on this shelf carries a full set of text fields
A title, a blurb, a meta description, an SEO title and a primary image. 251 of 251 on all five, which is complete coverage.
But the distinct counts differ by field
251 distinct titles. 251 distinct images. 213 distinct blurbs. 213 distinct meta descriptions. And 154 distinct product names.
So 38 rows share descriptive text with another row
Which is not an error. Two colors of the same jar at the same capacity have the same thing to say about themselves, and writing two different paragraphs about them would be inventing a difference.
The product name field is the one with the most sharing
154 distinct names across 251 rows, so 97 rows share a name with at least one other. Which happens where the name describes a size and material and the color lives in a separate field.
And the title field has none at all
251 distinct titles for 251 rows. So the title is constructed to be unique where the name is not, which is the right division between an identifier and a description.
Images are also fully distinct and that is worth noting
251 distinct image references. On a shelf with 38 rows sharing text, no two rows share a photograph, which means the visual record is finer grained than the written one.
Taken together these counts describe a variant structure
Unique identity per row, shared description per group of variants, and a color or finish difference carried in a structured field rather than in prose.
Which is the honest way to describe a catalog of variants
The alternative is to write a distinct paragraph for every color, and those paragraphs would have to assert differences that do not exist. A shared blurb is a smaller problem than an invented one.
It does mean a text search behaves differently from a field search
Searching prose will return groups rather than rows, and the structured fields are where a single row gets identified. Both are usable and they answer different questions.
And it is the last of the three field findings on this shelf
Twenty five families with eleven singletons. One family label that disagrees with a material. And 38 rows sharing text with a neighbor. All three were found by counting distinct values rather than rows.
