Four materials, evenly

The count
26 HDPE, 24 polypropylene, 20 glass and 13 PET, out of 83 containers. The largest share is under a third.
Which is unusual here
Most shelves in this library are dominated by one or two materials. The gummies shelf is 133 PET of 163 and the aromatherapy shelf 95 glass of 140.
And it makes material a real decision
Rather than a formality. Four options with four different chemistry, weight and claim profiles.
HDPE for the refill end
Tough, light, resistant to most household chemistry, and the material of the F style bottles and the jugs.
Polypropylene where heat matters
A hot-filled or steam-cleaned container, and the material of most of the single wall jars on the small end.
Glass where chemistry matters
20 containers, which for a concentrate is the inert choice. The compounding property rates glass 5 of 5 on chemical resistance and 1 of 5 on impact.
And PET where clarity matters
13 containers, which show the product and the level. For a concentrate sold on appearance that is the one.
The claim picture differs by resin too
Which is the recyclable section's subject: collection availability varies by material and the 60 percent threshold is about availability rather than about the resin.
So the material choice constrains the claim
A genuine selection criterion, and one our Recyclable field obscures by saying Yes to everything it says anything about.
Our material field is complete
Published on every container in this group, which is the half of the question we can answer properly.
And the Recyclable field is present on 39 of 83
All of them Yes. So fewer than half the containers carry it and none carries anything else.
And weight is the other material consequence
A gallon in glass is not a carried article, which is why the 20 glass containers here are at the small end and the 26 containers over 946 mL are plastic.
So the bimodal shelf is bimodal in material too
Inert and small, tough and large. The distribution and the material mix are making the same division.
Read the material, not the claim
Which is the practical advice from both halves of this property.
