The small half of the shelf

What is available
The great majority of the 659 containers sit below 950 mL: PET Boston rounds, PET packers, imperial bullet cosmos, glass Boston rounds and PET cylinder rounds, in every size a stain treatment or a dryer spray could want.
Which means the decision is made on other grounds
Not availability. Appearance, material compatibility, how it sits in a laundry room, and whether the neck carries the sprayer you want.
PET against HDPE
PET is clear, so the customer sees the product and the level. HDPE is opaque, cheaper and more tolerant. For a stain treatment with any solvent in it, tolerance usually wins; for a visibly colored product, clarity often does.
Glass for essential oil
59 glass Boston rounds. If a dryer spray carries essential oil rather than a water-based fragrance, glass removes the compatibility question entirely and reads as a premium product while doing it.
The cosmo bullet is a shape decision
70 of them. A tapered bottle that reads as personal care rather than household. For a laundry product aiming at a particular aesthetic that is useful, and for one aiming to look practical it is not.
Watch the neck, as always
24-410 at 277 and 20-410 at 124 dominate the small end. Both are well populated with sprayers and pumps, which is what keeps the applicator choice open after the bottle is chosen.
And leave room for the label
Everything on this shelf is small enough that the ingredient list competes with the design. Laying the list out at a legible size before choosing between two bottles decides between them faster than any other criterion.
The abundance is its own trap
With six hundred options there is no forcing function, so the decision gets made on a photograph and revisited three times. Write down the four things that actually matter for your product, material, neck, panel area and capacity, and the list collapses to something a person can hold in their head.
