What is available
Twenty-two containers at 1,000 mL and above, running to 9,464 mL. Jars, wide-mouth packers, tubs and canisters, in HDPE and PP.
Wide mouth is the requirement
A scooped product needs an opening a scoop goes into and a hand comes back out of. The 89-400 finish at 127 across the shelf is where that lives.
A tub beats a bag for resealing
Dry supplements cake when they take up moisture, and a bag that has been opened and rolled shut does not keep humidity out the way a lidded tub does. For a product kept in a barn that is a real difference.
Opaque, for the same reason as everywhere
Vitamins degrade in light. HDPE and PP are opaque, which is the right default for a premix, and the shelf is mostly white and natural at this size.
Handles matter at these weights
A 4 litre container of dense mineral supplement is heavy. A tub with a handle is carried from a shelf to a trough; one without is carried badly.
Where this stops
A 25 kg sack, a 20 litre pail with a gasketed lid, a tote. Those are agricultural packaging from an agricultural supplier, and that is the right place to buy them.
Which suggests where to compete
The small, branded, high-value end. A 1 litre tub of something specific with a good label is a product a packaging catalog can serve completely, and it is a different business from selling tonnage.
Square beats round at these sizes
A square or rectangular tub uses a pallet far better than a cylinder, and at four litres the difference in containers per layer is the difference in freight per unit. It also gives a flat face for a label that has a lot to say.
Check the lid can be opened with gloves on
This product is opened in a barn, in winter, by someone wearing gloves. A lid that needs a fingernail or a firm grip is a daily annoyance, and daily annoyances are what customers mention when they switch.
